Started thousands of years ago during religious rituals. Theater started outside. The Athenians built the first theater by constructing a dancing circle into the side of a hill creating the first amphitheater.

Theater can be used to tell a story or give a lesson or a point of view. It takes many people to put on a play: actors, director, lighting director, stage manager, and stage hands.

Broadway is a street in New York City and is a term to describe professional theater. From the earliest days, theaters were located on or near Broadway, hence the term, "on Broadway."
