Tails
Animals have many types of tails, including prehensile tails.
Cory the Clown sings a song about them.
People have a tail bone, but no tail! Many animals have tails.
Animals use their tails. A cheetah uses his tail as a rudder when
running at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour (that's fast). The tail
balances him. Kangaroos use their tails to support their weight when
they are kicking an opponent. Dogs wag their tails when they are
happy. Cats wag their tails when they are annoyed. Some animals use
their tails to defend themselves. Horses use their tails to keep away
flies. Monkeys have prehensile tails. A prehensile tail is a tail
that can be used as an extra arm. Take notice the next time you see a
tail. What does the animal use it for?
