Making Puppets
Cory the Clown shows that puppet making is easy, with this
step-by-step demonstration.
Cory the Clown has many puppets. It's easy to make a puppet. What
you need to make a stick puppet:
- 3 sticks, each about a foot long
- A large Styrofoam ball, about the size of an
orange
- 2 small Styrofoam balls
- A square of fabric, about handkerchief
size
- Paint to paint a face
- Feathers or yarn
- Glue
Take the large ball and paint a face. Let it dry. Take one stick
and put it in the center of the cloth (this will be the body,) push
it with the cloth into the head. Take the other two sticks and find
the front two corners of the cloth (these will be the arms). Push
them with the corners of the cloth onto the small balls for hands.
Glue feathers or yarn on for hair! Voila...a puppet!
What you need to make a hand puppet:
- An old sock
- Fabric paint
- Yarn
- Glue
Put the sock on your hand, with your fingers and thumb forming
the mouth. Your thumb should be where the heel of the foot is and
your fingers should be in the toe area. Figure out what character you
want your puppet to be. See where you will paint the eyes and nose
and where you want the hair to go. Take the sock off your hand, but
keep it folded so that it keeps the shape it had when it was on your
hand. Paint the eyes and nose. Let it dry. Cut and glue the yarn.
Okey,...dokey.... a puppet!
